Lutheran Services will rigorously protect your right to privacy. This statement explains:

  • how and why we collect personal information about you,
  • how you can access your information, and
  • how your information may be used within our organisation or disclosed to others.

What is ‘personal information’?

Any information recorded on paper or electronically, that might identify an individual, including but not limited to names, contact details, photos, and copies of identification documents such as driving license.

The information helps Lutheran Services to provide advice and services in response to your requests by telephone, email, or in writing.

How we collect your personal information?

 Lutheran Services collects information directly from you wherever possible, or (where applicable) from your nominated guardian or enduring power of attorney (EPOA).

Storing your personal information

We may hold your information in a variety of ways. This includes:

  • paper and electronic records held in a secure database or online storage,
  • images, including photographs, or
  • audio or video recordings.

We have secure storage systems and policies in place to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss or other misuse.

Disclosing your information to others

If required, we will ask you for consent to disclose your personal information to any external person or organisation. We need you tell us if you:

  • do not wish for us to collect, use or disclose certain information about you, or
  • wish to withdraw your consent.

We will discuss with you if this creates any impact on our ability to continue to deliver services to you. In certain situations, the law allows or requires for your personal information to be disclosed to others.

Accessing your personal information

You are entitled to request access to your personal information. Usually you will be asked to apply for access in writing to the relevant service’s manager or Lutheran Services Support Centre.

We may need to decline access to your personal information in certain situations including where giving access would put you or another person at risk of mental or physical harm, or expose someone else’s personal information.

Correcting your personal information

If you believe the information we hold about you is incorrect, please let us know and we will correct it or add a notation to your records.
