Everyone is welcome here.

We draw on our rich Lutheran tradition of caring for everyone – the individual, family and the community. We support older people, young people and their families, people living with a disability or mental illness, and families experiencing domestic violence and hardship.

Together with the congregations that founded us, we’ve been serving Queenslanders since 1935. We put the wellbeing of those we serve at the heart of all we do, inspired by our values of empowerment, integrity, kindness, and innovation.

Our 2,200 dedicated people, working across more than 20 sites from South-East to Central Queensland, help bring this to life every day. As a not-for-profit organisation, we reinvest in the people and places we serve and in those who deliver our service.

As part of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District, we draw from, express and add to the life and mission of the Church.

Lutheran Services has grown out of the dreams and hard work of our founding Lutheran congregations. We draw inspiration from Jesus’ statement where he said of himself that he did not “come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45).

Like the members of the early church, we are inspired by the biblical model of diakonia, a Greek word meaning care and service, especially for those in need.

We like to say that we’re in the business of joy. We create a calendar full of rich, engaging programs for our residents to enjoy and put smiles on faces. Salem feels like home. It has a lot of soul and warmth. We have wonderful residents and staff. It’s a wonderful community.

The staff is absolutely wonderful. They’re out of this world. Everybody is friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the bus trips and the staff is always conscious of the safety of us residents.

I’m very lucky. I get to make sure our residents have the best possible day, every day. That might be going to a show, working on a hobby, attending an ANZAC service, going on a cruise or just relaxing in the garden. I started here in 2003. Many have been here longer. There’s lots of long-term staff at Trinder Park. It’s like a family.

I came here on a two-week placement as an Assistant in Nursing seven years ago. I’ve never left. I love the people. I love my job. It’s so rewarding coming to work with people who love to see you. I go on holidays and I can’t wait to come back – and get a “welcome home”.

I’ve never struck a place so welcoming. The staff are great. They involve you in everything. Everyone is so caring and so loving – from the nurses to the kitchen staff. Our history of helping others

Over the last century, Lutheran congregations all over Queensland responded to the call to serve their communities and established aged care homes and other community services.

Since the first rest home in Toowoomba in 1935, we’ve carried on each congregations tradition of caring. We exist to serve, striving to meet the needs of Queenslanders on their path to a good life.

Governance

The Council for Lutheran Services is responsible for the organisation’s effective governance. This oversight is delivered within the constitutional framework of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District. Seven Council Members are elected at the annual Convention of Synod, and report to the District Church Board during the year.

Leadership

The Executive Leadership Team comprises of CEO Nick Ryan and eight Executive Leads who manage individual portfolios of work that specialise in areas across the business. Operating from the Lutheran Services Support Centre in Milton, the leadership team provides the relevant support and assistance to our services across Queensland.

Chaplaincy

Lutheran Services’ chaplains provide pastoral and spiritual guidance to residents and clients of our services. We offer acceptance to everyone and a willingness to walk alongside them on their journey. Our Lutheran Theology, based on the Bible’s message of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, inspires our values and faith.
