Aged Care

Thank you to our Nurse Practitioners

This Nurse Practitioner Week, we’re proud to recognise and celebrate the nurse practitioners across Lutheran Services who support residents with compassion, expertise and dedication every day.

Our nurse practitioners work closely with residents, families and care teams to support complex health needs and ensure care remains truly person-centred across our services.

As nurse practitioner at Immanuel Gardens Aged Care in Buderim Jenny Townsley shared, so much of the fulfilment comes back to the people: “If I had to pick the overarching thing that gives me immense job satisfaction, it’s the residents… having them know that I care and am there for them as part of the team committed to their well-being is the biggest impact I can make in my role.”

Nurse practitioner based at Toowoomba’s Salem Aged Care, Bhawna Sharma echoed this, reflecting on the privilege of the role:

What I love most is the privilege of being invited into people’s lives at a time when they’re often vulnerable and seeking clarity or comfort.

– Nurse practitioner, Bhwana Sharma

She also highlighted the broader impact nurse practitioners can make, noting that “Nurse practitioners can significantly lift the standard of care in residential aged care by bringing timely, advanced clinical decision-making directly to the residents… and advocating for residents’ wishes to guide treatment decisions.

Nibi Thomas, nurse practitioner at Trinder Park Aged Care in Woodridge, said the role provided timely, holistic and patient-centred care. “(Nurse practitioners’) collaborative and thorough care approach can ensure continuity of care and resident/ family support during their difficult times.”

We thank all our five nurse practitioners for the vital role they play across Lutheran Services and for the lasting difference they make in the lives of residents every day.
