Graceville – new program helps clients navigate the NDIS system

Lutheran Services’ Graceville staff in Nambour are piloting a program to help clients navigate the NDIS system.

Community Services Manager – Disability North Scott Mitchell says the program, named Support Coordination, was getting strong referrals after only three months in operation.

“We realised there is a big need for something like this,” he said.

“Our staff partner with NDIS clients in planning, selecting, using and reviewing their supports.  They help them build their plan and answer any questions. They also help negotiate service agreements and quotes.”

Scott says Graceville is an impartial partner in finding appropriate programs for clients.

“Because of this we give them three to four options and act independently from our service provision arm.

“The clients have all the choice and control – we just help them to plan well and meet their goals.”

After a review period, the program is set to be rolled out to other Lutheran Services sites early next year.
