Logan Youth Week celebration is a time to shine

Lutheran Services’ Bridges Reconnect joined other Logan community groups to celebrate Queensland Youth Week at the popular Youth Shine event at Rowan Park, Slacks Creek.
The park came alive with a diverse range of activities and entertainment including music, creative workshops, giveaway including food, wildlife enclosures, volleyball and Uball.
The free Youth Shine event was sponsored by Logan City Council with the collaborative participation of eight community groups including Bridges Reconnect at Woodridge.

Team Leader at Bridges Reconnect, Tina Tarawhiti, said Youth Week was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and recognise the achievements of the younger members of Logan.
“Our teens face many challenges and community groups like Bridges Reconnect are passionate about supporting these young people and their families,’’ Ms Tarawhiti said.
“Bridges Reconnect provides programs for Logan youth aged 12 to 18 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and early intervention initiatives to foster more positive relationships with their family and the community.
“We support around 85 young people every year who face disengagement from school and conflict with friends and family by providing tailored services to help them continue education, gain employment and rebuild relationships.’’

With support from a Logan City Council grant, Bridges Reconnect hosted a stall at the Youth Shine event, providing fun activities, a popular popcorn machine and information on their community services.
