Wifi for aged care

April 2020

Aged care staff continue to develop new ideas to support our residents’ wellbeing, including supported video calls and a pen pal program.

To boost the tech connectivity, Lutheran Services has fast tracked our wifi capability so residents can now access free high-speed internet for video calls and streaming.

Wifi will be available while the pandemic is in place. In the future Lutheran Services plans to offer a more comprehensive fee-for-service IT package.

If your loved one has a device, staff will help them access wifi.

For those residents who do not have access to a device, get in touch with your loved one’s service and you can book in a video call. Roving staff will be scheduling in calls – helping you both keep connected.

You can also email a video message to share with residents on our smart tvs. Or scqn a letter and email it in for your loved one, or start a friendship with another one of our residents.

We understand the interim wifi program is not a perfect solution, but believe it will go some way towards strengthening the connection between the community, family and residents.

Shortly we will launch a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Families can drop off (or post) a device and charger to the site.

We will post some more information soon with specific instructions and some frequently asked questions.
