Double vacc required for aged care and disability accommodation

November 2021

You may be aware that over the next few weeks, there will be some changes occurring when 80 per cent of Queenslanders are fully vaccinated.

The main change is that community restrictions will be further eased. However, there will be restrictions on people who are not fully vaccinated.

Queensland Health has advised when we ease border restrictions, COVID-19 will start to circulate in our community.

To ensure we keep our residents and clients safe when we have outbreaks, the Qld Government has advised that unvaccinated people will be unable to visit vulnerable settings including residential aged care and disability care accommodation. See the latest update HERE.

There will be some exceptions for end-of-life visits and emergency situations

These changes will commence on 17 December 2021, or when 80 per cent of Queenslanders aged 16 and over are fully vaccinated – whichever comes first.

You will be required to show proof of vaccination on entry.

To make this easier you can add your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check In Qld app. The updated version of the app allows you to check in and display your vaccination status at the same time. For instructions of how to do this click HERE.

If you are not already vaccinated with your first dose, it is important that you get it as soon as possible to be ready by 17 December.

Please share the requirement to be vaccinated with friends and family who might want to visit your loved one, especially with Christmas nearly here.

Please make contact with the aged care or disability accommodation service if you have any further questions or specific concerns you would like to discuss.

Thank you all for your continued understanding and assistance as we strive to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all of our residents and staff.
