COVID-19 Update-31 December 2021

December 2021

Zion aged care – lockdown

This update is to let you know one resident at Zion Aged Care has unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19.

The resident has been in hospital since 30 December and is now being treated for the virus.

No other residents are displaying symptoms at this stage.

Our team onsite is prepared and is now implementing our Outbreak Management Plan. The Public Health Unit (PHU) has locked down Zion to all visitors until further notice and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been upgraded for all staff.

All residents and staff will be tested as soon as possible. Residents with symptoms will be tested urgently. The Public Health Unit will coordinate this. We will keep you updated as to when the tests are being conducted and when results are known. If any other residents test positive, their families will be contacted personally immediately.

We will continue to be guided by the local PHU and work closely with relevant Government bodies to contain and manage the situation.

Immanuel Gardens – lockdown

Following the news yesterday that one of our staff has tested positive to COVID-19, today we can report that some residents were tested based on potential exposure.

No residents are showing any symptoms at this stage.

We await the results and will keep you informed. We will immediately call the nominated contact for each resident should their loved one receive a positive result.

Today we supported our residents by:

  • Handing out activity print outs and pens to each resident
  • Supplying an activity box for each wing – including CDs, DVDs, puzzles, magazines, cards, dominos, crotchet, art supplies
  • NYE poems – printed in A4 and A3 for each resident

Trinder Park – outbreak

Today we can report that there remains 10 staff and two residents that have tested positive.

One resident is being treated in hospital and the other is displaying no symptoms of illness. While this increase in numbers is not good news the number of positive cases appears to be  stabilizing.

As mentioned previously, staff usually make regular trips to the supermarket to fill in orders from residents. However, our staff are currently unable to continue doing this at this time. If you are aware of any additional items your loved one requires, please feel free to drop it to the gate between 6am-4pm weekdays, while the gate is manned. Just label the parcel with your loved one’s name and we will deliver it.

Tabeel – outbreak

Test results came through yesterday and we now have 20 positive staff and 9 positive residents. This means we did not have any additional positive residents today which is a move in the right direction.

We have received some good support from government and tomorrow we will have additional staff to assist us on site.

Another round of testing is occurring tomorrow, 1st January 2022, for both staff and residents and of course we will keep you up to date on the results.

Should we receive advice that your loved one tests positive, rest assured we will personally call you immediately.

Contacting COVID impacted sites

Please continue to phone the service directly. However, please be aware should our office telephones be overwhelmed with enquiries, we have established a temporary 24/7 overflow contact centre to ensure your calls are always answered. This centre will be able to receive your call and answer most of your general queries. Should you need more personal information on how your loved one is going they will be able to take a message and ensure someone calls you back.

If required, we may phone nominated contacts to provide a timely update. This may come from a number you do not recognise.
