COVID-19 Update 2 January

Today one staff member has tested positive to COVID-19 overnight. This means we have a total of 13 staff and 3 positive residents. Of the three residents, one is in hospital.

It is good news that we do not have any new positive residents. All the hard work of our staff and your loved ones is paying off. We are very grateful to them all and for your patience throughout this time.

Yesterday our Pastor, Martin Scharnke, was able to visits the service and provide some pastoral care for some of our residents struggling the most with the lockdown.

If you would like to speak to your loved one, please call the office if you do not have a direct line and we will assist.



Unfortunately, five more residents have tested positive. Two of the positive residents are in hospital but doing well. This means we have a total of 23 covid positive staff and 14 positive residents.

We will continue to phone the nominated contact of the positive residents every day.

So far, residents are in good spirits. Our lifestyle staff have been assisting residents make calls and providing activities they can do in their rooms.

We continue to work closely with the Public Health Unit and other government agencies to contain and manage the situation. We are continuing to implement our Outbreak Management Plan. We remain in lockdown with residents safely in their rooms.

COVID-19 testing of all staff and residents was conducted on site today.

We continue to have one COVID-19 positive resident, who is being treated in hospital, and two staff members who have tested positive to COVID-19.

Following today’s testing, please be assured if we receive advice that your loved one tests positive, we will personally call nominated contacts immediately.

Contacting COVID impacted sites

Please continue to phone the service directly. However, please be aware should our office telephones be overwhelmed with enquiries, we have established a temporary 24/7 overflow contact centre to ensure your calls are always answered. This centre will be able to receive your call and answer most of your general queries. Should you need more personal information on how your loved one is going they will be able to take a message and ensure someone calls you back.

If required, we may phone nominated contacts to provide a timely update. This may come from a number you do not recognise.
