Aged care visitor restrictions eased
The Queensland Government has issued Aged Care Direction Number 6 which has eased visiting restrictions and allowing residents to leave Aged Care homes.
This direction now allows residents to have up to two visitors at any one time and there is no longer a limit on the number of visits per day or length of each visit.
Children under the age of 16 are now also allowed to visit.
Residents will also be happy to know that they can now leave to exercise, visit family or visit a health care or other service provider. Residents who form part of a familial group (for example, couples, siblings) or close friends can leave together.
Please remember that the health advice regarding visitors remains unchanged – including the need to social distance, practice good hygiene and do not visit if you feel unwell. The need to supply evidence of the flu vaccination is also still current.
Families are encouraged to call their service to find out the best times to visit.
We would like to thank everyone again for your cooperation during these changing circumstances. We are pleased that we have all been able to work together to ensure that our sites have remained free of COVID-19.
