COVID-19 Update – 27 January 2022

Cooinda Aged Care, Gympie  

Three new staff cases and three new resident cases have been detected. This means our total number of cases are 27 residents and 27 staff since 11 January. 

Jacaranda is now open to visitors. Visits will continue to be limited to two people at a time and will occur in a resident’s room or designated area. Please wear a surgical mask while on site and complete the usual sign-in declaration on arrival. 

Hibiscus remains in lockdown. 

All other areas of Cooinda remain open to visitors. 

Vaccination booster clinic 

Our vaccination booster clinic for most residents and staff is happening today (Thursday 27 January) and tomorrow (Friday 28 January). For residents in Hibiscus, a separate clinic will be held when approved by the Public Health Unit (PHU). We will advise as soon as we know more.  

 

Immanuel Gardens Aged Care, Buderim  

There is no Lockdown at Immanuel Gardens.  

Visiting hours are 8am-5pm Monday to Friday and 10am-2pm on weekends.  

Up to two people can visit at one time for up to one hour in your loved one’s room. Please continue to wear a surgical mask whilst on site and complete the latest entry declarations. 

 

Northridge Salem Aged Care, Toowoomba  

All of Northridge Salem is again open to visitors.  

Visiting hours are 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm daily. We appreciate your assistance to help us manage visitor numbers on site, so please call ahead to schedule all visits until further notice. 

Visits will continue to be limited to two people at a time for one hour and will occur in a resident’s room. Please wear a surgical mask while on site and complete the usual sign-in declaration on arrival. 

 

Orana Aged Care, Kingaroy 

There is no Lockdown at Orana.   

Orana is open to visitors. Due to the high rates of community transmission of COVID-19, we welcome visitors from 10am-3pm daily, with up to two visitors per resident at a time for a maximum of one hour. Please continue to wear a surgical mask whilst on site and complete the latest entry declarations.

Salem Hume Street, Toowoomba 

There is no Lockdown at Salem Hume Street.   

Visiting hours for Nova and Tulip are 9-11am, 1-3pm and 6.30-7.30pm daily. 

To help us maintain a safe environment and ensure all residents have an opportunity to see their loved ones, please call to make a visitor booking. Up to two people can visit at a time, with visits limited to one per day. Please continue to wear a surgical mask whilst on site and complete the latest entry declarations. 

 

St Andrew’s Aged Care, Tallebudgera 

There is no Lockdown at St Andrew’s.   

All of St Andrews is now open to visitors between 9am – 4pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am – 1pm Sunday. 

Please phone ahead to schedule a time to visit as this will allow us to manage our numbers on site and ensure your visit is well organised. 

 

St Paul’s Aged Care, Caboolture 

There is no Lockdown at Immanuel Gardens.  

Visiting hours are 8.30am-4pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am-12.30pm on weekends and Public Holidays. Up to two people can visit at one time for up to one hour in your loved one’s room. Please continue to wear a surgical mask whilst on site and complete the latest entry declarations. 

 

Tabeel Aged Care, Laidley 

There is no Lockdown at Tabeel.   

Tabeel is open to visitors. Visiting hours are 9am-12pm daily at the Hostel, and 1pm-3pm daily at the Nursing Home.  

Due to high community COVID-19 cases and our strict infection control protocols, please keep visitors to two people at a time, surgical masks need to be worn at all times and the usual entry declarations completed. Visits will also take place within your loved one’s room. 

As an added precaution, if you are taking your loved one outside of Tabeel for a visit to the shops or other public areas, could they please wear a surgical mask at this time. 

 

Trinder Park Aged Care, Woodridge 

There is no Lockdown at Trinder Park.   

Trinder Park is open to visitors between 9am-4pm daily. 

Visiting requirements remain in place. Up to two people can visit at a time, for one hour. Surgical masks are required whilst you’re on site, with the usual sign-in declaration completed on arrival. Please also book in your visit with us, so we can manage our numbers on site.     

 

Wahroonga Aged Care, Biloela 

Wahroonga is open to visitors. As a precaution, visiting hours to Dawson are 8am-3.30pm. 

To assist us with managing visitor numbers to Dawson and to ensure we can meet you on arrival, please call ahead on 4992 8300 between 8am and 3.30pm to book your visiting time. 

Kroombit and Callide are open as usual. 

 

Zion Aged Care, Nundah 

One new cases of COVID-19 has been reported among our residents after testing today, Thursday 27 January. This means our total cases remain at 18 staff and seven residents since 31 December. 

We are continuing to work with the Public Health Unit to implement our Outbreak Management Plan.  

Our visiting hours on the ground and first floors remain at 9am-12pm daily, and the hostel side of the second floor is also open to visitors 9am-12pm daily.  

 

Contacting COVID impacted sites 

Please continue to phone the service directly. However, please be aware should our office telephones be overwhelmed with enquiries, we have established a temporary 24/7 overflow contact centre to ensure your calls are always answered. This centre will be able to receive your call and answer most of your general queries. Should you need more personal information on how your loved one is going they will be able to take a message and ensure someone calls you back. 

If required, we may phone nominated contacts to provide a timely update. This may come from a number you do not recognise. 

 

Retirement Living – General update  

As independent living services we will not be providing daily updates on resident cases in our retirement villages. However, we would like to advise the following:  

  • So we can support you please notify the Retirement Village Manager if you receive a positive COVID-19 test result or are isolating as a close contact. We are here to assist.   
  • If there is a positive case in the village, we will close the common areas and do a deep clean. 
  • If our Retirement Village or Home Care team visit a village resident that is a close contact or is positive to COVID-19 the staff will be wearing full personal protective equipment.  
  • I encourage to look after each other. If you know someone in the village who is isolating, please give them a call or pop a message of support in their letterbox.  
  • If you already have Home Care services with Lutheran Services they can continue – staff will wear full personal protective equipment. 
  • If you must isolate at home, we are happy to support you to ensure you have things like groceries, meals and medical supplies. Please just call me – even if you do not have Home Care with us. We are here to support you at this time.  
  • If your village is co-located with an aged care service and that service has a COVID-19 event we will advise you that the retirement village areas shared with aged care and the village will be closed. No entry signage will be displayed at entry points and all shared areas.  

 

Home Care Services   

We would like to provide an update on how we are supporting you and keeping you and our staff safe during this time.  

Infection control  

You will receive a phone call from our staff before each visit to confirm you are feeling well and not displaying any COVID-19 symptoms. Please tell your carer if you feel unwell. We can help you make arrangements to be tested.  

If you receive a positive result we will need to know as soon as possible. In this case, we can continue your home care, however our staff will need to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks and gowns.  

Please ask us if you need extra services while isolating, such as shopping or medication management.  

Communication  

Keeping our staff and clients informed in a timely manner is a priority and our COVID-19 Response Communication Plan has been implemented.  

You will be notified if a staff member that you have been in contact with tests positive. We will provide you with timely updates. 

Extra supports  

If you must cancel your appointments with us or if we cancel group activities, we will check in with you regularly by phone to ensure you are doing OK.   

Please feel free to call us between these calls if you need assistance.  

Please remember that even if you test positive for COVID-19 we can continue your services. We will wear extra personal protective equipment.
