Get to know me as your Client and Community Advisor

I love introducing prospective residents and their families to Cooinda. We are lucky to have a service that is often described as a resort or an oasis.

I’d like to tell you more about how residents brighten my day, everyday. One of my favourite things, is when a resident who I have worked with through the admission process, sees me on a tour or moving through our lodges and gives me a wave. No words, just a little wave and a big smile. That makes my day.

The transition into aged care means a resident who may have lived alone in their own accommodation previously, will be moving in with housemates. Ensuring that we understand the needs and individuality of each prospective resident to ensure a smooth transition into aged care, makes the most difference upon entry. The little things that are done every single day for the resident by our care team, which includes nurses, personal carers allied health catering, maintenance and cleaning staff and administrative staff, provides ongoing support daily, allowing our residents to live as comfortably as possible.

We provide no obligation tours and information about our service, to our community. We listen without judgement and provide honest information to families and their loved ones.

I learn the name(s) and roles of our health and hospital referrers and regularly thank them for considering our service. I try to fit in a conversation with a prospective resident or family member who walks-in to reception immediately. Many of our prospective residents are country people and like to talk to someone on-site in the first instance. Where possible, we try not to ask them to comeback at a later date.

I enjoy any opportunity to walk the central path of our service through the gardens. There is always something new in bloom or a plant I don’t know the name of ……yet.
