Our residents are like family to us

As a Residential Aged Care provider, Lutheran Services receives funding from the Government to cover the base level of accommodation, meals and care to our residents who require aged care services. This funding is greatly appreciated and essential to the delivery of our services, but there are some things it doesn’t cover.

At Lutheran Services, our residents are like family to us ad we want to provide you with all the little extras that make a big difference to your every day.

Make My Day. Every day

Our  Make My Day Additional Services package is currently available at selected locations, and is designed to provide you with added benefits and choice.

For an extra daily fee, you receive full access to the extensive range of Additional Services.

Providing more benefits and choice

Make My Day provides our residents with access to a wider range of services such as bus trips, subscription music service and streamable Wi-Fi.  Residents also receive greater choice when it comes to their food and dining experience. Daily hot breakfast options, chef prepared meals and beverage packages are just some of the great inclusions residents can enjoy every day.

Make My Day Additional Services are designed to enhance our resident’s everyday experience. From bus trips to chef prepared meals, Happy Hours to hot breakfast daily, residents can enjoy more of the things they love, every day. Services may vary at each of our locations. What’s included?

Entertainment & Technology

Includes: Flat screen TV, streamable Wi-Fi, subscription music (Silver Memories) and family video conferencing.

Personal Equipment & Services

Includes: Personal postage service, printed clothing labels, test and tagging of personal electrical items, dedicated personal princess chair and dedicated personal mobility aids.

Wellbeing & Social Activities

Includes: Bus trips, private entertainment / BBQ area, private function room, special events, Christmas Party and gifts on special occasions.

Dining & Drinks

Includes: Beer, wine & soft drink with meals, choice of two hot meals at lunch, chef prepared meals, meals cooked fresh onsite, happy hour, hot breakfast option daily and special BBQ.

Room Exras

Includes: Pillow menu service, deluxe pillow swap service and filtered water jug

Additional Services are any aged care services provided to residents that go above and beyond what is government funded. This includes the ‘little extras’ such as flat-screen TVs, hot breakfasts, chef-prepared meals, happy hour, regular bus trips, family video conferencing and streamable Wi-Fi.

We want our residents to have added benefits and choice that contribute to wellbeing, including the ‘little extras’ that make a big difference to every day. Our Make My Day Additional Services package provides access to a range of services that go above and beyond the base level of accommodation, meals and care.

Our Make My Day package includes entertainment and technology, wellbeing and social activities, personal equipment and services, room extras, and a range of upgraded food and dining offerings. Please refer the Make My Day Additional Services brochure for your selected site for a full list of services.

To note, Additional Services include either something we provide above the government funded services required by law OR an upgraded version of the basic level required.

Additional Services are a condition of entry, which gives all residents better amenities, more choice and supports optimal wellbeing. Even if residents access only some of the services, we ensure everyone receives value from the Additional Services package.

Additional Services vary between each Lutheran Services aged care site, based on resident preferences and what we’re able to offer. For example, at Immanuel Gardens and Cooinda Aged Care, the daily fee for Additional Services is $19.95, with respite residents or fully supported residents paying a daily fee of $8.95.

No, it’s not possible to purchase services as individual ‘menu’ items. This is because services are bundled together so the value of the Additional Services package is much higher than the fee. It’s a bit like a buffet – we put together a package of what will appeal to residents, who can then pick and choose what to use.

As part of offering Additional Services, it’s important we can show the benefits for each individual resident.

We regularly review a resident’s ability to make use of and derive benefit from Additional Services through our Resident Review of Capacity to Benefit process.

A resident’s capacity to derive benefit from Additional Services is assessed by their ability to use the service. For example, if a resident is physically and cognitively capable of going on a bus trip, they have the capacity to benefit from the bus trip. If they choose not to go on the bus trip, they are still capable of benefiting but are exercising their right not to.

Part of the choice in coming to Lutheran Services is choosing the Additional Services we provide. Our residents are like family to us, so we offer those little extras that make a big difference to quality of life and that support wellbeing.

The Make My Day Additional Services daily fee is intended to be affordable for residents, including a subsidised fee for respite residents or those who are Fully Government Supported. There are a wide range of Additional Services fees charged by providers and we have set a moderate fee, ensuring the value of the daily package is much higher than the fee charged.

Additional Services fees are paid fortnightly in advance, based on a daily fee rate. There is also an option for families to pay these fees as an ongoing ‘gift’.
